Overall, all was good, however, I was unable to put one of my larger laptops in the safe, as although the internal dimensions could accommodate the laptop, it was just slightly too big to fit in through the door, even diagonally as the door restricted this (something to consider when buying).

On security, difficult to comment as the safe has no certification, being a cheaper model. However, it looks sufficiently solid and I trust the Chubb brand. Overall, it looks sufficiently secure for my purposes (just keeping some valuables more secure, no items of high value or insured separately).

You can get a huge amount of stuff in the safe! I've got my laptop, IPAD, jewellery box, passports and other bits and pieces in it. It was easy to install - we have bolted it to the floor. It also comes with wall fixings.

It does seem to be a bit temperamental when you try to open it! Sometimes we put in the code and it just doesn't open - no particular rhyme nor reason. If we go back to it a little later it works. It is supplied with 2 keys so if the code does not work you can always open it manually.

We were looking for decent, basic safe to fit laptops and valuables. This fits the bill - easy to install, plenty of room for our three small laptops (check your laptop dimensions and safe door opening width), and straightforward to set / close / open. Some slight marks on the outer metal finish but for the price can’t complain. Would recommend this safe and buying here.

The safe is well made and has fixing points in the base and rear of the unit. It took a little while to understand how to set up a new security code from the instructions provided. They provide a multi language style illustrations that you have to interpret, but when it is set up it is intuitive to use. When you enter the correct code you get a reassuring audible tone.

Frustrated by our tween son who was running rings round our attempts to manage his screen use, I bought this to set a very firm locked boundary between my son and our tech. This can store two laptops, an ipad, chargers, a few mobile phones and a set of gaming headphones. I wish I'd bought the larger version, but that was my own poor estimation. It's certainly serving its purpose. I just have to remember the pass code and to use it and lock it!

Going to these efforts to parent my child might seem a tad extreme, but it's a game changer LOL

I put the override key in my other safe and put that key in my digital safe !! Took me at least 30 min to gather all the tools needed to remove from the floor/and wall and find the vulnerable point from Internet.

I regarded this as sufficient proof that the safe ( whilst not a guarantee) would cause casual thieves enough problems to move on to the next house. Easy to fix, good access widths and perfectly happy with my purchase and good value

Safe frame and door feels really sturdy. The back up key is useful too. Really like it now it’s installed. Only downside I find is that the handle itself just feels a little flimsy.

Overall quite a well built product. I bought this safe because of the Yale branding. Easy to use and set code, and seems quite strong for a budget safe and probably good enough to secure items from casual thieves. It took 2 full size laptops easily. It comes with override key in case you forget the combination. I think good value for money for this price range.

Easy choice of safe as I was looking for a specific size that is capable of storing laptops and tablet devices as well as documents. The safe holds both without struggling to get them in. It is not fireproof, but using a fireproof bag which fits in easily will provide a similar security without the additional cost. Fitting was simple, and it is easy to use.

How do we change the code on our safe please?

With the door open and unlocked press the red programme button located on the edge of the battery compartment (Audible Beep). Now enter your desired code onto the keypad followed by the ENTER button to confirm (Melody Confirmation). The code entered should now be usable as your personal access code. For a copy of the instructions there is also a User Guide available for you to download from the website. For further assistance please contact our sales office on the number at the top of this page.

How long could a set of batteries be expected to last? Is there any warning of low battery?

Good quality AA batteries should last between 12 and 18 months. When the batteries are running low a red light will appear on the keypad when entering your code.

I am wanting to purchase a safe for my home and was wondering if it had to be bolted to the wall or floor before it worked? In other words can I just leave it in situ without bolting it down.

We will always recommend that a safe is bolted to a floor or wall where possible as this increases security. The safe will function exactly the same if left free standing and can be used as such, but the potential for it to be removed is obviously increased. It may also affect your insurance cover if not bolted to a solid surface.

On the Yale Value Safe, where is the key hole for the back-up lock out key? And is it in the same place on the smaller laptop version? I want to be sure that, where I have in mind to fit it, the hole will still be reachable if needed. Many thanks.

The key hole is hidden behind the yellow Yale logo on the front of the door. The logo slides upwards to reveal the key hole and this applies to all sizes in the Yale Value Series.

If you take a look at the close up images above you will see one showing the logo has moved and the back-up key has been inserted.

Does the safe come with any factory default pin?

Can this safe be fitted to the floor of a freestanding wardrobe?

Ideally you should not attach the safe to anything that is freestanding, it is recommended to base or wall fix it to concrete or brick. If you have no option other than the cupboard it is certainly better then nothing.

Standard Safe <25kg Installation

We offer professional installation on our complete range of lightweight safes under 25kgs.

Our experienced engineer will complete a brief site inspection and then discuss their findings with you to agree positioning of your safe.

Your installation will include bolting the safe to the floor or wall using the anchor bolts included with your safe. Anchor bolts are designed for use with a solid surface such as brick or concrete. We cannot install your safe to floorboards or a stud plasterboard wall.

If you are choosing a wall installation you must ensure the skirting board has been removed prior to installation.

The position of your safe will be governed by safe site access, and other obstructions such as submerged pipes/cables or under floor heating.

The engineer will carry out a final assessment to ensure the safe is secure before providing a brief demonstration of your safe and confirming the installation has been completed to your satisfaction.

Additional Information

Non-standard Installation

In some cases, it may be necessary to install additional materials or provide extra resources (manpower) to facilitate an installation in a safe manner.

If additional costs are likely these will be discussed with you prior to installation. Reasons for extra costs might include:

  • Specialised access equipment and permits such as hoists, lifts and cranes.
  • Outside of normal hours working (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm).
  • 4x4 Vehicular access requirements to remote rural sites.
  • Road closure including necessary permits.
  • Additional manpower to overcome technical, lifting or safety access issues.

We offer installation throughout the UK mainland, however some more remote and rural post codes in the Highlands are subject to a surcharge to cover additional fuel and traveling time costs.

The following areas will incur a rural travel surcharge:

Warranty Terms & Conditions

Our installer provides a standard 12 month warranty on all new installations and a 3 month warranty on all materials provided during maintenance visits.

Note: Existing system components and pre-supplied equipment are not included in the installation warranty as these elements are covered by the Manufacturer warranty.

We reserve the right to undertake an ‘Assessment Call’ without prejudice to investigate any complaints relating to materials failure or poor workmanship to assess if the complaint is valid. Please note that remedial service calls generated by elements outside of our sphere of influence or due to different fault conditions will be chargeable to you at an agreed call out charge.

In scenarios where you request a post installation service call and our assessment identifies the fault condition or cause of the fault falls outside of the limitations of the standard installation warranty (Force Majeure, different fault etc) a call out charge will be incurred for the visit.

Assessment calls raised for reasons outside our sphere of influence or responsibility and not covered by the standard installation will incur a call out charge for labour and additional materials.

The following are examples of when a call out charge would be incurred:

  • System Modification
  • Incorrect User Diagnosis
