I wanted this post box so that I could adapt it to fit over an external water tap. This was easily done by removing part of the back for tap entry and then lining it with polystyrene to provide insulation in winter. This is invaluable for my blind daughter who lives alone and, after picking up waste from her guide dog's pen, needs to hose down the pen. It is also a secure system. I believe you could consider adapting the box and marketing it for regular use as I could find nothing else to suit the purpose. Should you find this of interest I could photograph it and email it to you.

It is attractive and it is very functional. The metal rod that forms the hinge on the lid has come loose 2 times and this has allowed the lid to come loose.

The box is located under a logia and when it has been windy the lid has lifted and dropped making a considerable banging noise. This has been fixed very effectively by bonding a magnet to the box such that it holds the lid in position even when it is windy and there is only slight resistance in opening the lid. If you require photographs to illustrate this simple solution please let me know.

The Burg Wachter Grand Black - Steel Post Box is made from galvanised steel making it rust and weather resistant when used outdoors. The large Capacity mail box is ideal for securing large volumes of mail and incorporates a front loading letter slot which is fitted with a protective flap to resist rain. The post box also includes a fixing kit and pre-drilled holes in the rear making it suitable for wall mounting.

Allows larger than usual the usual letters to be delivered and does not display to the world that you have not emptied it.

Good size & easy to use. Have not thoroughly weather tested this as just installed, but lacking in seals in vulnerable places- I'm sure water is going to get in, especially when driven by the wind in rural Aberdeenshire!

Very speedy delivery, left where I had instructed. Easy instructions to hang, capacity is good especially if you get small packages as well as larger envelops/magazines etc. Easy access to empty. Wipe over with a damp cloth keeps it clean. Yes does what it says on the box!

Basically good for the purpose, it's not very secure, because you can pull letters out from the top, however the large top slot is good if you get small parcels delivered, Books, CDs etc. It's not completely waterproof either, so if it's raining some of the post gets damp - I got around this by putting some polystyrene in the bottom, so the letters don't sit in the water. It does the job well enough for me, if you really need something secure and dry you might like to look for another model.

Went for it as size we needed and wanted it quickly. Had to weight the lid to stop it lifting in wind. Had to brace back before fitting to wall. The keys don't fit well and have to force them in, so will not be secure for long as will be able to open with anything. Would have liked better quality but couldn't get one in right size. Okay for the money I suppose.

This is a very worthwhile purchase as it performs well for our postman and for us. The mail is very hard to steal indeed almost impossible. It fixes easily to our brick wall and looks very nice indeed. We would have liked a bolder and more obvious word "POST" maybe highlighted in white as the black on black is hard to see. Our mail is received in much better condition since we fitted this and alone has made it very worthwhile. At the same time, we bought the newspaper box too. This works equally well but 8s not a physical match to the postbox, which would have been nice, but we have them on different walls so that's ok. Our advice would be "buy them, they work much better than the letter flap on the front door"

We are very pleased indeed with the postbox. The postbox arrived promptly and on the day that we expected it. The size was absolutely perfect. We very much like the design shape and the paint finish is blemish free and looks very durable. The fixings were all present. The postbox was very easy to fix to the wall and although clearly visible to the postie it is also stylish and unobtrusive. We have black door furniture and both the door furniture and the postbox compliment each other. We found the whole process of ordering was problem free and would not hesitate to recommend this company and product.

The product is easy to install and use and is very suitable for domestic purposes. There are 2 areas where I think improvements can be made, however, and these are:

1. the quality of the lock is poor and notchy to access / open.

2. the lid is very light and is prone to blowing open in strong winds. This leaves the contents exposed to wet weather.

Standard Post Box Installation

We offer professional installation on our complete range of Post Boxes.

Our experienced engineer will complete a brief site inspection and then discuss their findings with you to agree positioning of your post box.

Your installation will include fixing the post box to an exterior wall using the fixings included with your post box. The fixings are designed for use with a solid surface such as brick or concrete.

The position of your post box will be governed by safe site access, and other obstructions such as submerged pipes or cables within the wall.

The engineer will carry out a final assessment to ensure the post box is secure before providing a brief demonstration of your post box and confirming the installation has been completed to your satisfaction.

Additional Information

Non-standard Installation

In some cases, it may be necessary to install additional materials or provide extra resources (manpower) to facilitate an installation in a safe manner.

If additional costs are likely these will be discussed with you prior to installation. Reasons for extra costs might include:

  • Specialised access equipment and permits such as hoists, lifts and cranes.
  • Outside of normal hours working (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm).
  • 4x4 Vehicular access requirements to remote rural sites.
  • Road closure including necessary permits.
  • Additional manpower to overcome technical, lifting or safety access issues.

We offer installation throughout the UK mainland, however some more remote and rural post codes in the Highlands are subject to a surcharge to cover additional fuel and traveling time costs.

The following areas will incur a rural travel surcharge:

  • PH 1 - 26 (No coverage in other PH postcodes)
  • PA 1 - 19 (No coverage in other PA postcodes)

These additional elements are deemed to fall outside the definition of a 'Standard Installation'. If you feel your installation might be non-standard please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.

If applicable, additional costs are to be paid before installation begins.

Warranty Terms & Conditions

Our installer provides a standard 12 month warranty on all new installations and a 3 month warranty on all materials provided during maintenance visits.

Note: Existing system components and pre-supplied equipment are not included in the installation warranty as these elements are covered by the Manufacturer warranty.

We reserve the right to undertake an ‘Assessment Call’ without prejudice to investigate any complaints relating to materials failure or poor workmanship to assess if the complaint is valid. Please note that remedial service calls generated by elements outside of our sphere of influence or due to different fault conditions will be chargeable to you at an agreed call out charge.

In scenarios where you request a post installation service call and our assessment identifies the fault condition or cause of the fault falls outside of the limitations of the standard installation warranty (Force Majeure, different fault etc) a call out charge will be incurred for the visit.

Assessment calls raised for reasons outside our sphere of influence or responsibility and not covered by the standard installation will incur a call out charge for labour and additional materials.

The following are examples of when a call out charge would be incurred:

  • Malicious Damage
  • Materials or Manufacturer Failure
  • System Modification
  • Incorrect User Diagnosis
  • Broadband Related
