Quite a weighty item (it is delivered on its own pallet), however maybe not as heavy as some of those old fashioned safes seen solicitors offices throughout the country, however we are now in the twenty-first century!

Fixing it to the wall is a bit fiddly especially if a floor level, as this means lying on the floor and adopting all types of postures to tighten up the bolts from the inside, I chose the rear holes for a wall fixture, one can also fix it to the floor using the bottom holes.

However, as already mentioned on other reviews the coach bolts supplied with this item are certainly too short to go through the safe and into a wall or floor to any meaningful depth, this could have implications regarding the security of the item that might be more easily prized off it's secure mounting; therefore I provided my own long coach bolts screwed tightly into the wall.

The keys for both the outside door and inner compartment fit perfectly and the opening and closing action is very smooth, one is supplied with two keys for each lock.

The safe itself is not made of solid metal and has a gap between the inner and outer layers, this of course effects its weight, but also its security so I could imagine that hitting it with a lump hammer or using a power tool would expose areas that could be prized open, of course taking some time and causing an immense amount of noise!

Also due to its construction I can see why it only has a thirty minute fire rating.

The space inside the safe itself is adequate for a few bundles of documents, with the ability to store smaller items of jewellery, coins, money passports, etc in the separate compartment, which I considered more spacious that first envisaged.

All in all for the price this is a good entry level safe if only for your normal household valuables, I wouldn't recommend it for high end valuables in a jewellery shop for instance.

Also one can tick that box when renewing house and contents insurance that items of value are kept in a safe!

This is an incredible safe loads of room and very heavy completely satisfied with this perchase and would buy other products at ease

this item was as good as any of the more expensive similar items . i have found it easy to use and adequate for the purpose .

Well manufactured safe using quality materials. We required a safe with the capacity to hold A4 papers and this safe has met our demands. We are also pleased that we ordered a safe with a key lock rather than a digital lock which can be problematic with batteries running out.

The safe has fitted into one of our cupboards perfectly. It sits on the floor and although we have not attached the safe to the floor we are comforted with the fact that anyone would struggle with the weight of the safe if they had any miscreant intention.

We are pleased with the safe and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone with the same requirements as ourselves.

For the money it's a very capable and secure safe as long as you install it correctly , the capacity is excellent and the inner compartment is a bonus.! I would have no problem recommending this product...!

Excellent value for money

We needed a safe that would be sufficiently large to handle business documents, valuable coins, alongside cash and other items.

Having trawled across the internet for some time, both UK based and USA based cos. we found that buying from a UK company was the preferred option due to transport costs for shipping from any overseas location.

Eventually we came down to other reviews for the particular make of safe we had decided on, and then reviews of each company we short listed.

The Safe.co.uk website was very easy to navigate and gave all the necessary details about each safe they had on offer.

We have to state that we actually used this website as the base from which to check out other cos. and their safe products.

The process for ordering from Safe.co.uk was straight forward and when the safe arrived just a few days later, we were taken aback by the actual boxed size, followed closely by the weight !!

It was well protected by a thick cardboard box, strapped down to a thick, strong, wooden mini pallet !!

The large door has twin bolts that are security key operated on the outside, and inside the safe we have an upper internal chamber which is also locked by a different key. a second key is supplied for each lock.

The steel build of the safe and the locks are impressive, but I guess only a seasoned thief would know whether to bother trying to gain entry into this safe or not ?

As for moving it - it has a very secure bolt down system which is explained in the instructions and guide that come with this safe.

Given the weight of our contents and weight of this safe, we doubt 2 people would be strong enough to move it, and in any event, especially given only 1 person can actually get at it unless they try knocking down a wall !

So, chose you safe carefully and take time to chose the make, size, & especially where you want to place it and don't forget to ask security people and police for their views if required.

Finally, choose a company that is reliable and safe to buy from and in those respects, and in our opinion, you may find it difficult to find any company stronger, confident and secure in what they do than Safe.co.uk !

I was impressed with the De Raat build quality and whilst a very heavy unit (a positive feature of the unit), I found it fairly easy to manhandle the unit into my loft where I fixed it to floorboards and joists. It provides our household with plenty of capacity to store important and valuable items. The additional internal, and lockable cabinet provides an additional level of security for items of jewellery and other small valuables. The main cabinet has a certified lock and 2 keys are provided. The internal cabinet has a less secure lock and upgrading this to a certified lock could perhaps be a useful option for Safe.co.uk to consider. In overall terms, I am extremely pleased with the De Raat safe and would recommend it to anyone who has a need for securing a lot of fairly large items as well as requiring a separate, internal lockable cabinet for smaller valuable items.
